SiMEX

Non-pyrotechnic explosion simulator

SiMEX brings the adrenaline of real combat to the training field with controlled, repeatable, non-pyrotechnic explosions at battlefield sound levels — with no material damage. SiNTRES is the only company in Latin America offering non-pyrotechnic light-and-sound effects for live simulation.

Developed with SiNTRES' own technology, the system ranges from a simple flash-bang to the simulation of artillery and land-mine impacts, and can work alone or in synchronized groups.

Capabilities

A safe explosion simulator for every scenario

Light and sound

Light and sound, or sound only, adjustable from 80 to 140 dB — from a flash-bang or moral-effect grenade to artillery and mine impacts.

Non-pyrotechnic and safe

Safe even near flammable material. The blasts are powerful but produce no shock wave, so SiMEX can be used inside buildings, warehouses and offices.

Many ways to trigger

Pressure plate, tripwire, remote control, timer or presence sensor — set up booby traps, ambushes or scheduled bombardments.

Tablet control

An intuitive tablet app runs units manually, by sequence or by schedule, with map-based units, presets and event logs. Up to 20 units can fire in sync.

Rugged and repeatable

Aluminum tubes of several sizes share a unified control box. The system is waterproof and shock-proof, with one blast every 2 seconds at a cost of cents per detonation.

SiMEX-AT artillery & mortars

Simulates firing and impact for 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars and howitzers. Geolocated impacts reach the fire-control center in real time and troops in the blast radius are flagged as casualties.

SiMEX Bomb Squad

The effects are simulated. The explosion is real.

For EOD and bomb squad teams, SiMEX turns a training device into a real test of nerve. The stress a technician experiences while trying to disarm SiMEX is comparable to the stress of a real device — and when a mistake is made, the explosion is loud, bright and unmistakable, without risk to the team or the facility.

  • Several explosion strengths
  • From simple triggers to intricate traps
  • Repeatable at very low cost for every training run
  • Training as in real life: the stress is real, and so is the blast

Questions

SiMEX FAQ

What is a non-pyrotechnic explosion simulator?

It is a device that reproduces the light and sound of an explosion without explosives or pyrotechnic charges. SiMEX creates controlled, repeatable blasts at battlefield sound levels with no material damage, so troops can experience combat stress safely.

Can SiMEX be used indoors?

Yes. SiMEX blasts are powerful but produce no shock wave, and the system is safe even near flammable material, so it can be used inside buildings, warehouses and offices as well as outdoors.

How loud is it?

The sound level is adjustable from 80 to 140 dB, with light and sound or sound only — from a flash-bang effect up to artillery and mine impacts.

How are the explosions triggered?

By pressure plate, tripwire, remote control, timer or presence sensor, or from the tablet app manually, by sequence or by schedule. Units can work alone or in synchronized groups of up to 20.

Can SiMEX simulate artillery and mortar fire?

Yes. SiMEX-AT simulates both firing and impact for 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars and howitzers of several calibers, using real weapons and procedures, with geolocated impacts sent in real time to the fire-control center.
