SiMUGUNS simulated weapons

Simulated weapons for collective-weapon crews: heavy and medium machine guns, an AT4-type launcher and mortars that operate and handle exactly like the real thing — same cadence, sound and light — without live ammunition and at a fraction of the operating cost.

SYS-07 // Simulated weapons

SiMUGUNS

Collective weapons with real sound, light and handling

SiNTRES is the only Brazilian company that develops and manufactures simulated collective weapons integrated into its training systems. Operation and handling are identical to the real weapon, with the same cadence, sound and light — at a fraction of the operating cost.

The family covers the SiNTRES B.50 M2 and M240 MAG machine guns for live simulation, the SIMUGUN .50 laser trainer with TRACER-X, the SAT4 launcher and 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars with SiMEX-AT effects. Custom weapon replicas are developed to order.

Capabilities

Simulated weapons that train like the real ones

No modification

The B.50 M2 and M240 MAG mount on the real weapon's tripod or vehicle mount with no adaptation. Crews train on the same equipment they deploy with.

Real sound and light

Firing produces light and sound similar to the real weapon — up to 120 dB — without pyrotechnic material, bringing genuine stress and adrenaline to the training field.

Very low operating cost

A full day of training costs very little to run, so machine-gun crews can fire as often as they need instead of rationing expensive ammunition.

Long-range smart targets

Paired with SiNTRES smart targets, gunners train continuously at up to 1,200 m. The system identifies the weapon used and the target hit, and streams results to C2 and the after-action review.

Laser interoperability

Compatible with Saab laser-based live-simulation systems and with TRACER-X, so simulated weapons take part in force-on-force exercises alongside individual weapons.

Launchers and mortars

The SAT4 replicates the AT4 launcher for VBS-based simulation and live laser systems. Mortar crews use real weapons and procedures with SiMEX-AT firing and geolocated impact effects.

Machine gun simulator

Continuous training for collective-weapon gunners

Effective training with heavy and high-cadence machine guns falls short in most armed forces because of ammunition cost and the logistics of moving equipment and personnel to long-range fields. SiMUGUNS simulated weapons remove both barriers — in the field and in the simulator.

  • Live simulation: the B.50 M2 is ideal for barrage fire in field exercises, with results reported to C2
  • Virtual simulator: steel replicas with pneumatic recoil — Browning .50 M2, M240 MAG, FN Minimi and M249 — in single-screen, theater and hybrid simulators
  • Anti-personnel, anti-vehicle and anti-aircraft fire against moving CGI targets at up to 900 m
  • Ballistics calculated for the ammunition used, humidity, pressure and wind
  • Complete shooter report, with every weapon used in the session identified

Questions

SiMUGUNS FAQ

Which simulated weapons are available?

The SiNTRES B.50 M2 and M240 MAG machine guns, the SIMUGUN .50 laser trainer with TRACER-X, the SAT4 launcher (AT4) and 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars with SiMEX-AT. For the virtual simulator there are also FN Minimi and M249 replicas. SiNTRES develops custom replicas to order.

Do we need to modify our tripods or vehicle mounts?

No. The B.50 M2 and M240 MAG mount on the same tripod or vehicle mount used by the real weapon, without any adaptation.

Do the simulated weapons use pyrotechnics or ammunition?

No. They reproduce the cadence, sound (up to 120 dB) and light of the real weapon without live ammunition or pyrotechnic material, which keeps the operating cost of a full training day very low.

Do they work with our existing laser live-simulation system?

The B.50 M2, M240 MAG and SAT4 are compatible with Saab laser-based live-simulation systems, and the SiMUGUNS family integrates with TRACER-X and SiNTRES smart targets.

How is hit and score data recorded?

With SiNTRES smart targets, the system identifies the weapon used and the target hit at up to 1,200 m and streams results in real time to C2 and the after-action review. The SIMUGUN .50 shows range, target and hit confirmation on a rugged tablet with map, ballistics and logs.

Can recoil be simulated?

Yes. The B.50 M2 and M240 MAG can be used with or without simulated recoil, and the virtual-simulator replicas use pneumatic recoil similar to the real weapon.
