Virtual shooting simulator VERTEX: laser and live fire in one system

The only hybrid shooting simulator developed and manufactured in Brazil. Officers train judgment, use of force and marksmanship in interactive scenarios — with laser at almost no cost, or with live rounds fired straight at the screen from their own service weapon.

SYS-00 // Shooting simulator

VERTEX Hybrid

Judgment · Action · Fire — virtual and live

VERTEX is the SiNTRES law-enforcement training system for judgment, progressive use of force, less-lethal weapons and firearms. It projects interactive videos filmed with actors, CGI scenarios and a 3D world with AI-driven characters — and reacts to every decision and every shot the trainee makes.

Every hybrid simulator is, by nature, also a virtual simulator: the same installation trains with laser and with live ammunition. No modification to the weapon, nothing attached to it.

One software, three configurations

Every VERTEX simulator runs the same software. What changes is the number of screens — and any model can be hybrid. VERTEX-90 and Theater-180 can also be supplied as portable systems.

VERTEX-90 · 1 screen

One front screen (at least 3 × 1.8 m) with a ceiling-mounted projector. Comes with a ready-to-use content library filmed for the single-screen format. Available as Basic, Advanced and Pro Advanced.

Theater-180 · 3 screens

Three screens at 120° to each other, forming half a hexagon, with every Pro Advanced feature and a ready-to-use content library filmed in 180°. Runs on a single CPU and can be controlled from a wireless tablet. See VERTEX Theater-180

Theater-300 · 5 screens

Five screens surrounding the team in 300°, with a ready-to-use content library filmed in 300° and two linked CPUs. A fixed installation; the hybrid version requires a purpose-built room with 360° ballistic protection.

Basic

Decision-making scenarios, CGI scenarios and the virtual shooting range, with recoil kits defined for each customer.

Advanced

Everything in Basic, plus wireless tablet control and the full ready-to-use content library.

Pro Advanced

Everything in Advanced, plus tactical flashlights and the scenario editor to create and insert your own exercises.

Live fire in the virtual world

How the hybrid shooting simulator works

The officer fires live rounds from their own unmodified service weapon directly at the projection screen. The system recognizes each shot and the scenario reacts exactly as it does to laser fire — with moving people, hostages and bystanders in the line of fire.

  • Self-healing elastomeric polymer screen: after each shot it retracts and closes the bullet hole
  • 12 × 1.8 m roll with a 3 × 1.8 m projection area, waterproof, rated for up to 4,000 rounds per m² (about 85,000 per roll)
  • Automatic electro-mechanical dispenser with remote control and timer; the screen retracts for conventional range use
  • Projectors and sensors protected from stray rounds; the operator can sit in a separate booth, away from the noise
  • The same scoring and reports for laser and live fire
  • Also works as a 1-to-12-lane hybrid range, with each live shot marked on the target

Why hybrid

The stress of a real shot

In a laser virtual shooting simulator, the pneumatic recoil kit forces the officer to reacquire the sight line — but it cannot reproduce the impact of a live round. Live fire in the virtual environment brings the stress and realism that only a loaded service weapon can.

With VERTEX, a unit trains continuously with laser at almost no cost, then validates the skill with live ammunition in the same scenario, on the same screen and with the same report.

Training modules

From the virtual range to decision-making

Judgment & use of force

A library of interactive videos: domestic disturbance, vehicle stops, store and home robbery, corrections, active shooter in schools — including scenes with children — and helicopter operations. The outcome is drawn by the system or chosen by the instructor.

Less-lethal

Up to 4 weapons identified at once — pistol, rifle, electric weapon and OC spray — plus baton or tonfa, with the scenario reacting to the trainee's strikes. 36/40 mm launchers for crowd-control training.

Virtual shooting range

1 to 12 lanes chosen on the fly, a library of ready-made ranges, 3–50 m indoor and up to 900 m outdoor. Moving targets, night shooting with flares, induced weapon malfunctions and ballistics per round — 9 mm, .40, .45, 5.56 and 7.62 — with wind, pressure, temperature and humidity.

CGI scenarios

A library of computer-generated scenarios: close-quarters combat, terrain progression, technical, practical and instinctive shooting, running man, dueling tree, steel challenge and IPSC, with tactical flashlights.

3D world with AI

AI characters react to the trainee's actions. Libraries of drag-and-drop characters and objects, urban and rural environments, schools, subway stations and buildings, weather and time of day — unlimited content without programming.

Reports & after-action review

Who fired, with which weapon, how many shots and where they hit. Per-shooter evaluation — accuracy, posture, verbalization, situation control, cover, decision, tactics, judgment and use of authority — with individual and group reports in one click.

Your agency's own scenarios

SiNTRES films custom interactive scenarios in the agency's own city, with scripts, actors and vehicles chosen by the customer. The scenario editor, with a step-by-step wizard, and the chroma-key module let instructors create and edit content themselves, without specialist services.

Simple to run

A single operator runs the whole session from the console or a 10" wireless tablet with the same layout — no internet and no third-party software. A supporting-data module displays laws, agency rules, photos and videos during the lesson.

Questions

Virtual shooting simulator FAQ

What is a virtual shooting simulator?

A system that projects interactive scenarios onto a screen and recognizes the trainee's shots. With VERTEX, officers train marksmanship, decision-making and progressive use of force in situations filmed with actors, in CGI or in a 3D world, and get detailed reports for every session.

What is a hybrid shooting simulator?

A virtual simulator that also recognizes live rounds fired directly at the screen. VERTEX Hybrid trains with laser and with live ammunition in the same installation, the same scenarios and the same reports. It is the only simulator of its kind developed and manufactured in Brazil.

Does the weapon need to be modified to fire live rounds?

No. The system recognizes shots from the unmodified service weapon, with nothing attached. For laser training, weapons adapted with laser and recoil are used, along with simulated electric weapons, OC spray and batons.

How many officers can train at once?

In tactical scenarios the system identifies up to 4 weapons at once and records who fired, with which weapon and where each shot hit. In range mode, the instructor picks 1 to 12 lanes on the fly without leaving the session.

What is the difference between VERTEX-90, Theater-180 and Theater-300?

The software is the same; the number of screens changes. VERTEX-90 has one screen; Theater-180 has 3 screens in 180° on a single CPU; Theater-300 has 5 screens in 300°, two linked CPUs and is a fixed installation. Each comes with a ready-to-use content library filmed for its screen format, and all can be hybrid.

Does it need internet? Can it be portable?

The whole system works 100% offline. VERTEX-90 can be supplied as a portable system in a shock-resistant case, ready to use in rooms with no special preparation. See the portable shooting simulator.
